I just got back from "free dance." Every other Wednesday they just have a room set aside where they play swing music and you can go dance and practice your moves. It was a little more dead than the last time we went but it was still fun. This afternoon a very exciting thing happened though. We made pancakes! And guess what we had on them...Maple Syrup!!!!! Thank you again to Dan and Anna. It was sooooooooo good, and we barely made a dent, so more maple dinners to come, yes! My friend Allan made awesome blueberry banana pancakes. Sarah and I tried our hand at maple pecan pie too. The crust was slightly flawed but the pie was deeelicious.
Easter was nice. We didn't do much celebrating, but we had family dinner that night. We made a couple chickens and had mashed potatoes and veggies. It seems like a long time ago now, though it was just at the beginning of the week. We are having family dinner again tomorrow (just making some burgers) because Joschka is leaving to go home to Germany on Friday! We're all very sad to see him go so soon. Hopefully now that I have a couple German friends I will find a way to come visit.
Monday we went to see a free concert at the opera house. The opera house is beautiful. I have some pictures to add to this blog post. The concert wasn't actually opera. It was piano and a violinist. I thought it was very nice, though it was the kind of music that made me a bit sleepy. We walked around Oslo some that day. It was gorgeous out. It has been so sunny in the days since I've been back. I am always so surprised when I go outside and I can actually see the ground instead of having to walk on four-inch-thick ice. I hear back home it hasn't been able to make up its mind as far as weather goes.
Tomorrow night Sarah, Micah and I are taking a night bus to Sweden. We will be there Friday night and will take the same night bus home on Saturday, arriving in Oslo early Sunday morning. It should be a nice trip. Everyone I have talked to says Stockholm is very nice. Also tomorrow at noon I am going on a tour of the chocolate factory in Oslo called Freia. I'm excited because everyone said that was great too and well, it's chocolate!
Oh, I guess you might be interested to know I was accepted to go to the American Sociological Association's annual conference this August in New York City as a participant in the honor's program. More details to come..
Maybe, just maybe I will start my blog about England tomorrow, but like I said before....no promises. For now, it's bedtime.
